Star Light, Star Bright...

I must admit, I truly admire my Mother's abilities with the crochet hook.

She really did try to teach me over the years, but I was always quite resilient.

I can knit... yes I can!

But every time I tried crocheting... I would end up with a solid peace of mangled thread that did not resemble much at all.

So, how can I not be in awe when I see what she can do?

This is one of the many sets of crisp white (some with silver thread), Crochet Stars for your Christmas Tree or to attache to your Christmas Cards for your friends and family.

The sets are packaged like this:

Don't you just love those cute little packages?

There are always 6 different designs and sizes in each packages.  No one will end up with two of the same!

Here are the star designs you may find in your set:

Like it or not... Christmas IS Coming!

I grew up in Poland; the traditional Christmas Season started on December 24th.  Before that we calmly and quietly were getting ready for the birth of Christ by actively participating in spiritual activities of Advent.

No Christmas stuff before December 24! No Christmas Carols, no Christmas tree, maybe a bit of Christmas shopping, but certainly not in November...

On Christmas Eve we would forgo meat of any kind, cooked an enormous feast of fish, Pierogi(s) and sauerkraut - to be eaten before we headed out to the Midnight Mass.  The presents were opened right after supper and there was always so much fun with that; the tree was trimmed only earlier that day and my Dad was in charge of that.  Wonderful memories.

After moving to Canada, we still continued our Polish traditions, because they were so dear to our hearts.

We tweaked them a bit and now our Christmas tree is beautifully dressed two weeks before Christmas.

It stays up until at least January 6th (my Grandmother used to keep her's up till February 2nd!)  My Dad still dresses his on Christmas Eve while my Mom prepares the Wigilia - traditional Christmas Eve meal.

And the gifts under the tree... remember those are always opened on Christmas Eve!  Great, isn't it?

Tree, sparkly and nice... did I tell you already that I love sparkles?  oh... where did the tree skirt go?

And here you will see my Mom's beautiful handcrafted Crochet Stars:

I hope you like them.

The Crochet Stars come in sets of 6 and can be shipped worldwide!  You can get order yours here

Creativity in the Family

For the last 3 years I've been secretly creating something out of nothing.

My Mom was doing the same, only she used a different medium for her precious art.  Mine were made by hand from original designs and so were hers...

My chosen supplies came in hundreds of different colours and textures.   She would mostly stick to white.

The reasons behind our creativity came from the heart.  We were working on our creations because this labor of love was calming and fulfilling.

Mom was working on those little crochet beauties for several fundraisers.

I wanted to relax in the evenings and was looking for a creative idea to use my ever-growing stash of fabrics, beads and crystals.  I used to design and make skating costumes for about 12 years, so you can imagine the amount of fabric I had available... and the beads, oh the beads!  Did I tell you I love sparkle?  Petals and Sparkle?  Get it?

I started out making Fabric Flower Brooches like those above.

Then new ideas came and my collection grew to include Fabric Flower Headbands and Fabric Flower Barrettes.
